We work to ensure children can be healthy in healthy neighborhoods.
Creating Healthy Schools & Communities
We provide programs, services, and community resources with local schools and community partners across the Town of Hempstead in an effort to improve health outcomes within communities of color. This is part of a collaboration with Western Suffolk BOCES and New York State Department of Health.
Complete Streets & Environmental Justice
We co-lead a complete streets coalition with community leaders and government partners to ensure the neighborhood we serve are safe and walkable. We also work on community-led advocacy with state and local health entities in remediating contaminated properties, as well as, improving air and water quality.
Nassau County Coalition of Youth-Run
A youth entrepreneurial program running a community farm stand to increase affordable healthy food options to reduce obesity and address food insecurity. Partners include Choice for All (Roosevelt/Hempstead) Cedamore Corporation (Freeport/Baldwin) and Community Connections of Long Island (Westbury/New Cassel).
Restaurant Healthy Meals Program
We provide coordination of basic needs services and daily healthy meals prepared by a local restaurant to invest in the local economy through a collaboration model with Health & Welfare Council on Long Island for seniors aging in place, families displaced or individuals with dis/abilities.
